Standard explosion-proof plugs are typically rated for temperatures down to -20°C or -40°C. However, in regions like Yakutia and Western Siberia, winter temperatures routinely drop below -50°C, and occasionally even -60°C. At these temperatures, conventional plastics and rubbers become brittle and fracture, compromising the flameproof path (Ex d) or increased safety (Ex e) seals.
